I liked this little joint. I came with a friend and we made it a point to sit outside since I have heard about their great outdoor patio/deck. The waiter was witty and had a good sense of humor. He also offered up suggestions and complimented our choices. We both ended up ordering sloppy Joe's and french fries... The meal was delicious and I cleaned my basket completely! I also had a beer to help wash it down. The prices were very affordable, nothing seemed overpriced. Great view of Prior Lake. Laid back crowd/atmosphere. I liked the bar outside. There were actual swings you could sit on, taking the place of the average bar-stool. I thought that was pretty unique. We even saw Mike Morris (former vikings player) getting off his boat to grab a bite to eat. Overall, great first time adventure... I will definitely be coming here again in the future!

We had to stop going here. We are on prior lake all summer, but just couldn't stomach the mediocre food, slow service, and so unacceptably gross bathrooms anymore. We never stop now. If I hear about new management and a bathroom fix up, we will stop in again.

We love Monday Mexican night with Chicken Chimi's and sharing a Big Momma fried ice cream out on the deck on Prior Lake. They always support a lot of foreign exchange students for wait staff.

This place has potential to be a great bar and restaurant. The floor had bugs ankle high in one corner. Food was bad. Service was o.k. get some one in here with experience and save this place. Go for some bottle beer that's about it.

It's just a shame. What an opportunity to have a great place on the water. This place is consistently one if the worst restaurants I've been to in my life! If you want crappy food and even worse service, this place is for you!!! I'm officially boycotting it for life!

I can see why this place is dead. Such an inexperienced wait staff. Our appetizer of chips and salsa came out with our food! I would have never ordered it if I was going to get it with my food. Sell the big Leiny beach chair to pay for some training for your staff. I dont care how good your food is, if the service sucks, I won't be back.

This place is really the only "restaurant" on the lake..and, it's just okay as far as service and food.

The only reason people go here is that it's the only restaurant you can reach by boat on Prior Lake. They need some competition.

Nice looking establishment with a great location along Prior Lake. The bar itself was spacious, well stocked, and run by a slightly dismissive bartender. (It was a hour until closing time when we walked in and he was far from friendly). The deck/patio area offers a fantastic view of Prior Lake, which I imagine becomes quite popular on warm afternoons/nights. The customer service here could use some work but perhaps the "view" can trump the lack of it.

Lunch wasn't great - stale tortilla chips and fried walleye tasted like old frying oil...sloppy joe was okay

If all you are planning to do is have a beer and take in the sights then this place may be ok, assuming you are willing to wait for that beer. In a momentary lapse of good judgement we decided to give it another try because it was a beautiful day to eat outside and enough time had lapsed since our last visit that we had forgotten about the awful experience. Unfortunately it has actually gotten worse since our last visit. If it were possible, the wait staff have become even less attentive and are desperately in need of even the most basic training. Four out of five orders were wrong and the fifth had a big hair in it. The food is poorly executed without any creativity and just atrocious. I received better food in a state university cafeteria in the 80's. If you want a good local burger go check out Buffalo Tap or Tommy's Malt Shop.

Very unfortunate that this is currently the only place to eat on Prior Lake. It's a great location and could be so much better with better owners/management/service/cooks. The food is ok, and the view from the patio is great, but the inside dining area is very bad and the service is the worst I've ever experienced. I've gone back many times hoping for better service, but am disappointed every time. One time I ordered a sandwich with avocado. I waited an hour for it to come out and it didn't have avocado. Told my waitress about it and a half an hour later she came back and said the cooks told her the sandwich didn't come with avocado (even though the menu said it did). Then she said that the cooks were really drunk and might have just been messing with her. Eventually I tried to pay, but couldn't find any waitress to take my credit card. I walked back in the kitchen to ask for help and no one would help me. I left and never went back.

The place smells bad inside... Spend some money in remodel the place... Styrofoam plate! What? The owner needs to get a clue... Styrofoam is BAD!

Wow, had to reset the password and everything to write this my first ever review on yelp or anywhere else. This restaurant compelled me to warn others to not spend a dime there. My wife and I went there for lunch today and it was hands down the worst experience ever. The food was horrible and the service was worse. If there was a food shortage and this was the only place I could find nourishment I would have to drive past it and buy a casket. Never again.

We decided to have lunch with some friends down south in the home town of Prior Lake. The said, meet us at Captain Jack's. I thought, that's a pretty cool name for a restaurant, let's go! We entered the establishment and there were a couple of grisly looking guys sipping on beers at the bar and we were seated overlooking Prior Lake. A real beautiful view looking out at a house that sits on an island out in the middle of the lake. Must suck to go on a liquor store run, but I digress. I ordered a Summit to go with the Buffalo Chicken pizza I ordered. We had lots of laughs while we waited for our food and watched their cute little boy do cute little toddler things. They brought out my pizza and it was HUGE! Lots of cheese and just the right amount of spiciness. Big hunks of chicken breast were loaded on top and the crust was AMAZING! My wife got a cheese less pizza with onions and it too was fantastic. Again, the crust is real doughy and perfect. My buddy got a club sandwich that looked spectacular and his wife got a chicken sandwich that looked wonderful as well. Our waitress was fantastic, lots of great service and she even cleaned up some baby puke when their kid accidentally gagged themselves. I think it would be even better in the summer. I can imagine the boats pulling in for lunch and a few beers. Good times!

I am not sure why my review disappeared???? DO NOT EAT HERE! Found a hunk of plastic in our order, the blue cheese sticks were actually Philly cheese, hundreds of flys all over windows in the restaurant. This is a terrible place to eat!

As a local all I can say is, no thanks. This restaurant has had 9 lives and as many names over the years in Prior Lake. It seems to draw a great crowd, but those of us who live here know that it's always a crap shoot when it comes to service, the kitchen is sketchy (at best), and the food is so-so. It's the only lake restaurant in town, so it will get the people, but I'll go elsewhere.

Had a nice lunch at Captain Jacks in Prior Lake. Me and my Babe chose to sit out on the deck. The lunch prices are fairly cheap but then again the food wasn't gourmet. It was a 90+ degree day and we wanted to have a lunch on a patio. It had been a while since we had been to Captain Jacks, it's not as "IN" as say Redstone or Cowboy Jacks but it has a cool vibe going on. It is a bit out of the way but being able to look out on the lake is worth the trip. We noticed that nearly everyone started out on the deck but either moved inside or into the shade to be out of the scorching sun. We decided to take in some Vitamin D. I haven't been to Capt. Jacks at night so I'm not sure what that scene is like. They had messed up my order and I wouldn't have even notice until they promptly gave me my correct order. So I give them Kudos for that. The only complaint or improvement is they should add a few umbrellas to some of their outdoor tables. Overall they get 3 stars.

Great views of the lake! Decent service and food. Just wish the downstairs area was open during the day, at least during the summer!

Overall the experience was so so. Service for once was good, prompt and quick. (Not usually the case). However the kitchen screwed up and missed one of our 8 meals. Ok no big deal right. The manager came out to verify and did not even apologize. Then it took another ten minutes for the missing dish to appear. Fine but then that dish was prepared incorrectly. By this time we had waited to long to send it back so we simply made our waitress aware of the issue. Not looking to put up to much a stink, as we thought they'd take care of us in the bill. Not the case. Very disappointed.

The Original crust Buffalo Cicken Blue Cheese Pizza is great. I do not even like Blue Cheese. Sitting on the deck and watching the boats, ducks, dock, lake, and scenery while eating is great. They even have some sort of odd bar swings on the deck (never sat there). I have been there 5-6 times and it has been good. i heard the wings are bad. The prices seem to have gone up, but so has everything everywhere. Still pretty good.

We arrived in a group of 5 adults and 1 child, a bit run down looking from the outside, but sometimes that adds to the charm! It was quiet at 430pm on a Saturday, we were seated immediately. Our menus had various things crossed off in a black sharpie, with the exception of one of the menus, of course one of appetizers we ordered was also no longer available. We orders chicken nachos, they came out quick, and on the bottom of the plate you could see the grease. next we ordered our meals. 3 of the 5 of us ordered hamburgers, the plates were covered in grease, the burgers were inconstantly done and the frys were hard as nails. Not much to say here... Never again. Only positive point is the view of the water is great.

SERVICE: The patio is what everyone raves about. It's great during the day & in the spring on those first few warm nights. Watch out for lots of bugs during the summer nights - obviously bugs are attracted to lights. Never expect good service if you eat on the lower deck. If you got to eat outside, sit on the upper deck. However, I would recommend eating inside, preferably in the bar area if you're looking for service. Belly up at any of their bars - the bartenders are pretty attentive. FOOD: Is pretty good. They jacked up the price the spring of 08 and expanded the menu to include some mexican dishes. Salads are huge. Burgers are pretty tasty.

We went here around noon on the Independence Day. We got a table on the upper deck of the patio. This was just what we were looking for. The boat parade was going on, which was pretty cool. The atmosphere gets 4-5 stars. The food was pretty average. The chicken nachos were pretty damn good. The rest of the food was just alright. I had the walleye sandwich... it was good, but nothing special.

Perfect for sitting outside and having drinks, but the food is not good to say the least, especially for the price.

Here is the skinny, Prior Lake doesn't have too many options when it comes to dinning out. I have to be honest and say that this place is hit or miss when it comes to the food. However, the staff is always really cool and the atmosphere is very comfortable. I would go again for a cold beer on the patio.
